Epiphany
By: Noah Eaton
7/27/02

Under all this scar tissue
Render me from cobalt blue to chrome yellow
Make a home of this mares nest
Make a rich butter straight from
This saturated margarine of creed
And churn it all with a myriad of sunrises
Rub it against my skin like a Vasoline

If I could give all my love to you
I could chase away those clouds and make barcaroles of your blues
And incubate your dreams precious cocoon
Until your weary heart rises as a golden butterfly of springs epitome
And deep in your sleep I'm vigil, no longer your eponymy
But rather your epiphany
Giving you the sweetest dreams
Kissing your forehead as you sleep...

Underneath all these masks
Embroider my eyelashes in passmenterie
Peel off all this papier-mache
Yesterday you were my Maundy Thursday
Washing my feet until I met you in my Easter today
Now when I stare at the pieta of myself
I know that I'm still alive, there is hope in your golden gaze

Underneath all this scar tissue
Where I used to feel anesthetized
I feel your sweet kisses upon my neck
Pass me the golden chalice
We'll drink this ambrosia like king and queen
As you take these eyes of cobalt blue
And make them a clare de lune for me

Take me as I am to heart
Make this moment envious to the stars
As I strum rasguerdo from my guitar
And I just want you to know…

You are my day
You are my eve
You are my honey
You are my epiphany...

You have some very very cool lines in this Noah...as well as images and use of metaphor...
as always your vocabulary and word play make an impression on this reader.
Another gem of pen to reflect your unique style in the book.
Well done poet sir!

Noah -

Your gift for imagery is spellbinding... I really love the way you used textures, colours, and even tastes to set the poem's mood so definitely that no reader could have possibly missed out on it.  This is just fantastic poetry, Noah, one of my favourites from you so far... I'm putting this in my library and hoping it makes Reflections (it probably will, with all the indirect votes you have to your name   ).

Nice reading from you again... as always, will have my eye on your work.

i agree with everybody else. the way
you force your reader to feel things with
the moods and language you use. it's
not normal, youre superhuman. haha.

take it easy bro.

It's tough to pick a favorite part when the very first phrase captured me. *S* But these I SAW as well as read... and they moved me past appreciation to awe. *S* Excellent!

Noah, I love the word "Epiphany"! It is one I use quite often--because I am always having epiphanies!

(smiles) Yay! Thank you all for your lovely comments, I love writing about love and this was my favorite love poem because I believe love truly opens up many doors at once for everyone who feels it finally, like you're drowning in sunbeams! (friendship hugs for everyone)

This is the kind of poem I like to read once and then again...and again: to savour the tone and rhythms and let the images engrave the theme on the inner cell of my sensibilities. It deserves all the positive comments so far received and is a MUST for the anthology.

I wish your Muse many more years of impressive, evocative creativity,
Patrick.

Noah, your use of verbage, metaphors, and your visuals not only carry an intrigue that envelops the reader but your style is one of your own and is a wonderful style at that.  You most definitely have my vote on this.  Well done sir.
