Only the birds get it

Hanging eyes
carry heavy bags
worry about bills
ducks seem to manage
to fly away
to a foreign hole
deep and black
a hungry bear
fishes for food
but the seagull is there first
food laden beak
like heavy bags
these tired eyes.

(big hugggsssssss) The irony of it all is the wings only come to those who have the grace in them, for those kind of birds it's not wings, just propellers, and there is no manual control in being propelled! Seagulls are considered scavenger birds---but I am a seagull lover! I enjoy watching them ride the thermals across a cerulean blue sky and listen to their shrill cries above the sound of the crashing waves...

I love reading poems that are pitched at several levels of meaning. This one is a good example and it goes straight into the library for future visits. It also goes into the book if my vote has anything to do with it!
