Man made instruments
In man made increments
Measure the intangible here to there
Succeeding seconds
In solid sixty segments
Ticking
Talking in silence
Toward the eternal void of time

Where each black line barricade
Registers a binding bar-code
Announcing arrivals
Effecting causes
And demanding departures
Day in
Day out

So setting the pace
In a three hundred sixty degree race
With no ribbon to cross
We run against three hands
For seconds to place
Throughout the years
Seldom coming in first
But no stranger to last
Toward the terminus
Of tried and tired
Where so many moments slip past

There we finally rest
And staring on the sidelines of youth
Seeing for the first
That which was always there
Space
Between the seconds
Where a hand slips through
With silent appeal
To tell you
Your time is due

Live life beyond the bars

You know what, Sir Andrew? *G* Voting for such excellence is easy... but reading words like this sure makes me miss the days when you posted frequently. *S* Moments are slipping, yanno... please indulge us more often. *S*

Nicely written with well-paced wisdom.  I agree totally with your message, Andrew.  We do seem to agonize too much, don't we?
