Somewhere between degrees
of latitudes and longitudes
lies the distance that now
defines, denies, and directs her.

White lined lanes and runways
winding endlessly into the horizon.
Miles of mapped and compassed
concrete and clouds. Highways
that bend and curve like her need.

On a day that holds winter too tightly
and frigid winds frost her words ...
she whispers to the warm sand reverie
that holds her heart in tide taken requite.

Seven degrees of separation change
the seasons, still the distance that denies
will eventually lead her farther on ...
It wont require a compass to find where she
left her heart back on a beach warmed by
September's promises kept.

Destination:
36° N. Latitude
76° W. Longitude

She'll have no need of maps ...
her heart already knows the way.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Janet, I think we all have a special place that feels more like home than any other, dearest friend, not even a compass rose or rosette stone can unravel such a place as accurately as the heart as we never take for granted the colors and texture of the sand and grass and sky we behold! (kiss on cheek) This is marvelous, sweet friend, I send a stone across the waters to you and cast my rippling vote, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Janet, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

JM,
Not everyone knows where they left their heart. I know where part of mine is and have been aware of the location of yours for some time. Such a touching selection. Voting immediately!

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I read... and I read into. *S* Which isn't surprising when I reach the end and find my favorite lines hovering midst the clouds on a picture that makes me want to kick off my shoes and cares. *S* If you start making postcards, send me a price list. LOL

You may have left your heart there... but your talent's present and so well accounted for here. *S*

I'll never get enough, Janet. Are you worried that the estimation of lines in your poetry will be miscounted because of all the graphics?

Oh, what the heck, for old time's sake.

Thank you for that Mikey..

about the graphics... the thread about page and line estimates says that the program does not count the html graphic lines...
so Im safe there...
after I did some editing this poem made it under the 1 page length limit so its all good

thanks again to all for your encouragement.

well well well ... did you know it is beach weather again and I believe that it is showing promise of the tide coming back in.

*********

you know I love the descriptive lines in this and of course you know the importance of that inflatable map finally finding it's way home to me.  This is a definite must in the book and one you should be proud of.  Not only for the write but for the levels of freedom found with each footprint you left there.  You got my vote.

Thank you ALL for these wonderful replies and support of this one getting into the book. Seeing the ocean for the first time has changed the way I look at everything.
Its special to me that the poems inspired by the blue would reflect me in the new pips anthology...

what can I say that I havent said before...thank you never seems enough...this poetry only exists because of you and the promises kept...What was both shared and discovered in the blues and the waves has become a part of me...as have you my friend...as have you. TY

I guess what I want to say is that your writing has changed since you were changed by being touched by something so true and blue.  It shows more freedom, more connection to a centre of freedom, if that makes any sense.  I feel the words come right from the centre of your being in the poetry since you left footprints in the sand, and that Mothy Mom is a very wonderful thing!  Oh did I say I want to see this in the book as well
