Standing still here waiting,
While our kings play thier game,
Theres no use in protesting,
Because things arent the same,
Destrution and dying decay,
As opposition take the pieces,
Defomaties and blood where they lay,
And they stalk over rocky Creases,
With thier armies of wooden men,
Trod over dark and light,
Pawns at the front line from the den,
Followed by battling Knights,
And the the Kings left untouched,
That gamble by our lives and bet,
Though the enenmy must be stopped,
Must they play a real chess set.

If your afraid of the dark, then why did you come?

(big hugggssssssss) This reminds me of that Shakira song "Octavio Dia" (The Eighth Day), dearest friend, sadly I think the world is being ruled by chess pieces who ignore their people and I pray soon this kind of game can end and we can play some friendlier game with the world! (sad sigh) My prayers are with all the world, sweet friend, you have my vote, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

hmm, not meant to trivalise but your title reminded me of the chessboard game Harry Porter and his friends had to go through in the Scorcer's Stone...i also thought this was an unique way to get your point across

hey, will this piece be considered as "extended metaphor"? just wondering...

Nice to see you submitting here, Moon Dust. My only problem is this piece is rife with spelling errors. Still, I love the message, and the way you crafted it, so in my vote goes.

loved the metaphor.

'standing here while the kings play their
game'--this is just great throughout,
voteworthy.

Moon Dust, the rulers of the world always play with the pawns. What can we do? We're pawns, we're expendable.

There are many writings that pertain to moments of time and events and then there are those that are timeless in their meaning.  I can only hope that one day we will see a world where everyone is satisfied with the wooden pieces but deep inside I feel that decades from now, this piece will hold the same meaning to others referring to another event.  Well written and a great use of metaphors to bring out the message in this.

Again war raises its ugly head and the victor will do its best that it was all meant for the benefit of the rest if us. Human shields find out there was no room left for shielding...and history will collect dust.
