Regret

She gets up and looks in the mirror
Wondering what the day will bring
Will it be something unforeseen?
Or a day like all the rest
Nothing new to profess
Just more loneliness

She dries her hair and puts on her makeup
Wondering why
She should even try
To overcome the emptiness
Of the unforgivable foreverness
Of a life gone bad
Wishing for what she never had

She has her coffee in solitude
However did she get to this place?
An enemy with no face
Never leaving a trace
It gets so hard to fake
That she didn’t make a mistake

She sips salty coffee and remembers
The mistake of words spoken without insight
She uttered in such fright
She thought she had no right
Now it’s impossible to move on
When what she denied has gone

She looks out the window
Closing her eyes to the warmth of the sun
Wishing she could undo the undone
If only she had been brave enough to reach for more
She wouldn’t be fighting this daily war

Ooh very nice... I especially like "undo the undone."  Am in love with your choice of format.  Well composed.

And if this is a repost because of that reboot, you'll have to take "repost" out of the subject line or you won't collect the votes you got earlier.

(big hugggssssss) Sadly there is nothing we can do about going back and fixing regrets, dearest friend, don't take center line in this inner-war, instead turn away and live each new minute to the fullest or you'll only create more regrets! (sigh) This is powerful, dearest friend, you have my vote, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Susan, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Regrets - a curse of the past, it is our choice if we let them share today and tomorrow with us. Love this write. Happily cast my vote for this.

It is easy to look in the mirror and say what if..to regret perhaps the what if's we might still be able to go back and change..wondering if the courage exists..or the will..or even it is the right thing to do.

I wish many times I had the answers to regret or the future.. so.. the poem touches me on several different levels...

thank you for reposting..and for giving us the opportunity to vote on it.

To overcome the emptiness

Of a life gone bad

This is a powerful poem that deeply touches all of us who live with regrets... the siren call of "might have been" falls bitter on the ears. *S* Excellent work!

I felt every single word. Book worthy indeed.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could in fact undo the undone?  Liked your poem a lot Susan.

Onward and upward! Don't let the past impinge on your present and tarnish your future. Very moving write!
