I danced with a reason
For living tonite
I was tired
Worked all day
Was trying hard to look forward to it
I came home, opened the door
And God...she was stunning
Just like her mother
And when I told her how
Beautiful she looked
Her shy smile, and the pure
Proud joy, at my simple words
Made my day so small
And me her world and I
Was filled with worth and love

And we danced all night
Clumsy and not caring
In her beautiful gown
With her laughing friends
All angels
And we laughed and did the
Chicken dance, the YMCA
And line danced like fools
And all of the dads
Forgot to look sheepish
And I glimpsed for an instant
The woman she was becoming
So soon
And I knew, I was the first man
She loved
I will never forget
That night I danced
With an angel
.
.
.
Had to resubmit, this one was lost with server problems the other day.Thank you my friends, my other 2 submissions made it into the book.I am very excited for what will be my first time in print and I am honored. This one I gift to Jessica, whom I danced with that nite.

A fun-loving, healthy father/child relationship is so precious and not
to be taken for granted. Which you've
expressed in spades!
Lovely, simply lovely, Jason.

I think this should DEFINATELY be included in the book!! I hope you won't mind if I print it out and share it with my husband and daughter. I think they may enjoy it as much as your Jessica does! And maybe, just possibly, it will help get my husband out to the Father/Daughter dance our young Rebecca wants him to attend. Thanks for this write Jason! Gets my vote!

Jason, I honestly thought that I had voted for this. I guess that because I loved it so much in the Open Forum that I thought I had voted for it. I was going to just read it again and noticed that I didn't vote for it. I'm so sorry.
Well, here I go now to vote.

Jason,
I'm not one given to the sappier emotions, however this brought a HUGE lump to my throat as I have danced the same dances with my own Daughter, Autumn.
Count one more vote to the total.

Jason,

Yes, this is a very special poem. I enjoyed the sentiment and the love that you expressed between a father and his daughter.
No question these words are from a loving father.
