This poem has been inspired by the great song "Friends Are Friends Forever" by Michael W. Smith...What a song...Here is "That one summer"
*************************************************

Looking back on past times,
I see now the happiness that
lived inside us all that one summer.
The smiles of great joy.
The joining of hearts to form
a loving family of cheers.
Leaning upon each other, we all became
each others back support.
We all remember when you left,
forever friends we remain.
A touch and go relationship but we lived
that summer as a family.
Welcomed each other with respect.
Love was inside, we cried the song
of happiness that one summer.
Built a mountain out of our
friendship, which we have today to hold in
our hearts, our minds, our souls.
We've planted out feet
to let everyone know that
our friendship will not be destroyed.
Our hearts remain strong,
our friendship never fails.
We fight, only because we love each other.
We will be friends forever because of
that one summer.
***************************************************
This is dedicated to all my friends especially one who has been my hero, my best friend that's a guy, Ricky (Rich). I want to take this time and say Thank you *Hugs* I love you!!! (...friends...)
This song...is just...amazing.

I lie all the time - infact Im lieing right now!
Today is yesterdays tomorrow.

Great poem, it built up to a perfect ending.
You have my vote!
Well done.
P.S. I was wondering if you could think out of all my poems if there is one other than the one I've already submitted that I should put up for votes?? Thanks a bunch! Stephanie

I had to vote for this and for that one summer I had it reminded me of as well.  This is a great representative poem from teen by the way, very well done.

I wish that I could cast two votes for this poem! Yes, I love Michael W. Smith's "Friends"--it has been an encouragement to me many times after a friend has left. That song, and this poem, are both an amazing mix of sadness and blissful happiness that extends...forever.

Keep up the good fight, and remember that "friends are friends forever, if the Lord's the lord of them."

Blessings,

Great poem!  Brings a sense of nostalgia to me.  I've had many summers like "that one summer," working as a camp counsellor, in which I've been a part of a close-knit family of friends.  This gets my vote for sure!

Nothing is sweeter than a friendship that lasts past that one summer. We've all had a summer like this I think. Enjoyed!
