One Night

When the scent of plumeria wafts in the night,
And the woman beside you is tucked in so tight,
When the light of the moon lays a bridge on the sea,
And she whispers so softly “you’re special to me”,

When the trade winds are singing a song in the palm,
And the echos resound like a heavenly psalm,
When the rustle of banyan trees flutters like bats,
And the gypsy quartet plays as softly as cats,

When the Mozart is oozing right into your skin,
And the candles are glowing like some magic sin,
When the wine is as mellow as old Velvet Fog,
And the senses within you are warm as a dog,

When you hold in your hands this great vision of life,
And you’re young and you’re anxious that she be your wife,
When the scene painted here can still make my heart sting,
I remember that one night I had everything.

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

This...certainly takes you "there"...

you set the mood, the emotion, the sigh...
and some times, one night is all any one gets...

The kindness of your comments, friends
will help to fuel the fire.
that keeps me writing at the edge
and stretches like a wire.
So Mistletoe and dearest E
and Aries, friend and "23"
and also SEA and J Marie
Mysteria and Angel E
and one we know, she's called Sunshine
and last not least but Poet deVine
all join in thoughts that come out pen
becoming part of this poet named Ken

"...When the Mozart is oozing right into your skin..."...Ahhhh, that is a very visual line.
I like the entire poem!

To Chanson and Ethel, you make it so easy
to spin webs and stories without feeling queasy.
Your support is such fun and rewarding to read.
I thank you both; your caring I need.  Ken

Well, Ken, it's alrady part of my library with one small click. Beautifully written!

And now that my nose
is twitching with scents,
I hope the book editors
take all these hints,
and place this poem
where all can see and smell
the love poetry you write so well.

Midnitesun and Charisma too
give my day a grin
Hours I spend in writing, see
results in the fix I'm in.
Dishes stack up, the garbage too;
just can't find the time.
Tending the house goes begging
I'm working on some rhyme.  Thank you both!!  Ken J

'tis enchanting thus to open door

Friend Squirrel and E, just where would I be
Without your comforting posts
And Sunshine and Justbleu also give thought
Which posts do I like the "mosts"
And Christian and Nan have spoken a word
I need a rhyme better than bird.
Thanks to all..Ken J

We seldom forget that one night when the world was perfect and we had life at our fingertips (and too often let it slip away) and you've captured that moment perfectly in this one and captured my vote too
