Softly sleeping,
gently breathing.
Eyes closed and
chest slowly rising.
Looking at you,
I see forever-
in all simplicity
and I understand.
Every burn
ever inflicted,
all the pain
ever encountered;
menial tasks,
monotonous moves-
suddenly reasonable.
It all comes together
and makes perfect
sense.
My purpose,
a meaning in life?
Once so hazy
now clearly crystal.
All for you-
and this moment.

This is deserving of my vote, I really liked it very much.

You've captured with your words this tender moment in time so very well.  Such peacefulness and reassuring thought can certainly come from watching a loved one during their almost sacred time of rest. I love this poem.
