Here, Outside of Eden

I'm looking past the window pane
Out at the clouds of falling rain
That hover o'er in shades of gray
To paint the sky with drab dismay
I wonder if the birds will sing
Again to welcome days of spring
When Lover's lips will once more kiss
And speak the words I reminisce
Oh, showers come to drench the hill
That I will watch and linger still
Here in my hibernated state
Where solace must my heart await
The hollow knock upon my door
As fragrant springs will flow once more
To steal away my dark despair
And fly my spirit through the air
Above the dreary clouds of Earth
Unto the land of joy and mirth
Back to Eden where life began
When GOD made Nature one with man.

The title is pure poetry and the rhyme and cadence of this is pure heaven...this MUST be read aloud to do its meter justice..it dances off the lips!!
One of the real gifts of this book forum is that it gives us a chance to read poets from other forums that we might not frequent due to time restraints and so on...and its been a treat to read your lovely spirited poetry and your generous and sincere replies.

Thank you so much for your delightful response. It's as I stated earlier that this poem was actually inspired by the title, and the title was inspired by a Challenge some time ago by our poet friend VAS. The challenge was to write a poem about this or to include this very line that she found or thought up. Anyway, it led to the poem that you have read. I think I accomplished what I intended here to have the poem flow effortlessly until the last two lines... and like you, I've sincerely enjoyed getting out and making some new friends.

Thank you dear friend. I think to answer your response that I am this way most probably is because of all the time that I've spent being nurtured over in the "Spiritual" forum. That soul soooothing poetry is bound to rub off.

Glad you stopped in for a second round. I think the lack of punctuation works quite well here to induce a constant flow as you have stated... It works well, that is as long as readers stop to take a breath on their own and don't pass out. (Smiles)

There are two cool things happening here. One, we get to read your great poetry. This is a beautiful poem displayed beautifully. And two, because you are submitting it for the book and because everyone wants to have part in creating it by voting, a lot of people are reading you for the first time. THIS is one of the better benefits of the book I think!!

You certainly know how to make a grown man blush. (Geeeeez!!!) I humbly accept all that you have written here about my poem and I agree with you whole heartedly about the opportunity that we are given here in this forum. I think it's cool as you have stated that so many wonderfully talented poets are able to read me for the first time, but I am also enjoying reading others for the first time. I really think this forum is an epitome of Ron's mission as stated that we be a family of friends. This forum does, I believe, motivate us poets out of our own individual boundaries, circle of friends, and comfort zones to discover, to read, and to meet someone new, talented, and most exciting.
