There stands a face in this place
Fades from in to out of view
Old to new.
Shall it ever return,
to more than merely a silhouette
shadowed dancer with regret
blows another evening wind
down this well beaten path
in the mind?

Submissive to this pain
One sometimes can only
remember smiles
as the miles pass on
like the past
they seem to vanish
into the haze
of yesterdays
rear view mirror

On sunny days now long ago
They’d sit on a bank
Watching the river flow
And she’d look into his eyes
He’d carefully disguised
And ask, “Tell me, what is wrong”?
Which he’d dismiss with answered kiss,
And answer ”Nothing, everything’s fine”

But all was not well,
And how would he tell
That he was now looking ahead
To the future of this day today
That would have him looking back to the past
And that their love
Would never last
Yet still stays with him
Yesterday, tomorrow, and today
For he’d love her, then as if it were now,
Even after the evening winds had died
Always…and forever

(big hugggsssssssss) Oh Dennis, this is so sadly touching, sweet friend, this is so very true, though we should never dwell in the past all the time, it is important to introspect and understand the signficance of our pasts so we can correct our mistakes and learn from them and know who we are, whereas if we hide so much others can never understand how one feels and even more regrets will be made! (sad sigh) This is a tragic love story, sweet friend, I love it, you have my vote, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Dennis, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Warm and reflective,
two winning qualities.
Nicely done. *s

I can't possibly pick a favorite line....I'd have to copy the entire poem! I sure hope all these make it into the book...

Just a delightful write, and I sure wish you luck in getting it into the book.

Sue, your words are always so soothing and graceful--even when they are sad they are still soothing...it is as though they are carressing one's soul... I enjoy your writing very much and this one was especially lovely.

Warm hugs,
Linda
