i lost a piece of my heart, that one day in march
i left it behind, somewhere in a park
where a child plays, and has a happy smile
and sees his father, who knows his life was worthwhile
he created a life, from the very thing of beings
a miracle to me, or so it seems
so easy to take away, so easy to make
so hard to decide, when its a mistake
i made my decision, she made hers
it just so happens, our decisions concurred
every day, it makes me sad
that we took away the one, who could call me Dad

Wow, this one hits right to the very core. There is so much pain and expression in it. Gets my vote

Matt,

Very raw write. You touched the depth of my heart and gut with this situation. Terribly sad. You captured how many ~feel~ who are either one of the two decision-makers, or the relatives.... tears here....

Hugs, Pat

mpt

although the pain will never leave your heart, you've learned from your mistakes and can be there for others who are in the same shoes (or about to be)

HUGGLES....

This is a very good poem. I have never known my dad so I can't write a poem about my dad and me unless it is saying how much i hate him.

This is a beautiful and gut wrenching piece of work.  You need to get this piece out to
the professionals in the literary field.  Trust me on this one, I don't hand out praise
lightly.
