United

It is amazing
How in one single moment
Our existence can shift
Peace, security, tranquility
Lost in a suffocating haze
Of smoke, ashes, and ruins
Nightmares become reality
As the haunting echoes
Of a thousand screams
And millions of tears
Ripple through our people
A wave of numbing shock
Sadness and compassion
Take a hold of our souls
Our hearts reaching blindly
Attempting to comprehend
Searching for what has been
So violently taken from us
Strong, proud and united
We collectively stand tall
Our heads held high
Even as the teardrops fall
We bond as a nation
Refusing to give up
Refusing to give in
We will pick up the pieces
We will begin to rebuild
With an unwavering faith
And love for our country
Faith in our God above
And faith in our strong spirit
Proudly, loudly exclaiming
For all the world to hear
That we are
The United States Of America
We will NOT fall
We will NOT surrender
United, we will prevail.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Tara, this is so very true, sweet friend, it saddens me to see hatred dividing all of us in the nation we cherish right now, for our motto was "In God We Trust" and now some are putting all their trust in Bush or leaders and others in silence while some pray to Him alone believing He will always be our leader and it will never change a thing! (sad sigh) I too pray we can come together soon and repair the colors that have been bleeding recently, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Tara, thank you for sharing, you have my vote!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

This is a frightening notion.  Unity is difficult when the only unity allowed is on election day and beyond that point, unity exists only in the form of propoganda and mindless government cheerleaders.  I'll stop myself before I start a little rant... I don't think it's necessary.

It would be wonderful to have not only the nation in unity, but the world in unity.  Having unity in a nation just reinforces the existence of sides... but there are no sides in the human race that we don't create ourselves.

Nonetheless, I respect your intentions and enjoyed your poem.  Nicely done.

Beautifully written and you said all that we feel in our hearts as a nation! This will proudly grace the book! Ellie
