he sings
the distance

the suffering heart
              (burnished brass
a quivering cry)
in

          mute
                 smoke
rings

rising
to join

the empty

branches

the lonely
streetlight
                haloed
by
cold

         rain

sing
sing to the miles
that
separate

make them disappear

send the sad hush
of mist
to drape
the cypress
            (bleeding knees
a quivering sigh)

my exhale
intense
to the sleeping sky

say it Miles
say it
you know........

This is my favorite---so far...

smile

but your format lends to the effectiveness of the visual which in turn lends to layering of your message---much like the jazzy theme depicted. Excellent poetry.

(sigh) I too wish for the lampposts to always illuminate with the afterglow of faith wherever you go, dearest friend, may the miles thin in so you can see beyond the dfistance, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Brian, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Not a fan of the musical genre myself... but the fact that I could hear the music enough to recognize that, speaks kindly of your talent.

Nice work, Mr. Sites.

goodness!  This is why I started reading poetry in the first place, the words, form, imagery,  and fluidity were all excellent.
