I've journeyed far and wide
Looking for something I couldn't find
And now Im going home.

I'd run so far away from there
That I thought I would never want to return
But now I can't wait to reach the door.

Yesterday I didn't miss it
Today I can't wait to reach it
And tomorrow I'll be happy
Because now Im going home.

I'll always keep in my memory
The things I've seen in the wide world
Beautiful and inspiring and so different in their turn
But I'll love them more when I reach home.

When I saw all these impressive sights
I knew something was missing,
Something not quite right
And now I know I was missing my home.

I've journeyed far and wide
Looking for something I will soon find
Because now Im going home.

Yeah, it's always in the last place you look, isn't it?  Nice sentiments.

Now that you have sated your wanderlust, you now have more of an appreciation of hearth and home.
"Home" has such a nice ring to it, doesn't it...Happy home-coming!

Exploration is a wonderful thing.  But what would it be without a home to come back to and in which to cherish your findings abroad?  Nice post.  It gets my vote.

Back in he 'fifties I went to Italy on a teaching assignment for one year. I stayed for two and was invited to stay for three. After two years of interesting times, however, I wanted to stand on the banks of the Swan River (Perth, Western Australia) and savour a return to HOME! Your lovely poem brought that memory back to me and, so, I related to your theme "in spades". Thanks for the experience.
