A bump for a wonderful write!

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

This absolutely stabbed at my heart Spirit.  My Mom is a retired high school librarian, and my Dad was a college professor.  I believe very much that they will one day be reunited in lasting, eternal love.  Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece.

Your description of the town's response tells so much in this story.  It tells of worth, and lives forever changed.  Well done, Spirit.

The content of this poem lived up to its intriguing title. The theme was handled with finesse and respect without inappropriate intrusion of over-sentimentality. The ending: GREAT! Good work, SPIRIT, resulting in a dignified and warmly affectionate memorial to two human beings who, in passing, left behind them "footprints in the sands of time".
