If I could paint the sky
just once before I die
in the blue of you,
the clouds would be jealous,
but gloriously highlighted
in wisps of pure lightest hue.

If I could paint the day
into the night as you,
the sun, moon, and stars
would all join hands
and bow to the
master of blue.

If I could but for one moment
paint Love the way you do,
I'd hold my heart in my hands,
and the colors on my canvass
would all bleed true.

If I could paint the sky
it would be a portrait
of you.

Thank you Ethel and Sandra. This is one I wrote not long ago after a night of reading here at Passions, listening to inspiring music, and staring at some van Gogh prints.

(smiles) Oh Kacy, I knew Van Gogh inspired you here, I love Van Gogh too so much, especially Starry Night, Terrese de Cafe and the Rhine River painting (by the way, did they rescue those two Van Gogh paintings yet, I hope so! ) (big hugggsssssss) You always paint like a passionate poet, yay, I just have to add my vote here so many others can see your colors, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

What a compliment it would be... to be drawn as boundless, open and gorgeous as the sky.  Whoever you've written this for should be very happy to hear this painting you've done with the palette of poetry.

I do like this poem too. Again, I do like your use of canvas and paint in your poetic illustration... My friend, you are a true artist at heart. The image that you paint here with your heart in your hands to me is a strong strong statement of your love and devotion. Again, a very nicely penned portrait of art.

Was wondering whether you would feel upset about your three line senryu being counted as a half page poem...and i agree with your opinion..."If I could paint" and "the Iris" are indeed more worthy submissions...

i appluad you for sticking to your guns and signing to the
agreement...Respect!

kaile thanks for you support. I like both the longer poems, but I enjoy the haikus and senryu form immensely, so it would never make me unhappy to see mine in an anthology. But I hope one of these others make it in too.

Tammy, thank you so much for your wonderful reply! I sometimes use a paintbrush, but word painting is still my favorite medium.
