PUSH to play "SAILING MIDI" while reading

~* Sailing The Sea Of My Imagination *~

If you find I’m missing
You know where I will be
Sailing along in my imagination
Caressed by an azure blue sea.

A gentle breeze fans my hair,
Sunlight tans my face.
I’m not one to sip mint juleps,
Or sit tatting things of lace.

My friends now are so scattered
Or marked with a crumbling stone.
The day will come we meet once more,
And never again will I be alone.

It won’t be long before I’m there
This reality will be gone,
So for now I’m content to daydream
With no plans, I drift along.

I sail along a sea of memories,
So grateful for each day break.
I hit choppy waves of loneliness,
But know laughter's in its wake.

So if you catch me missing,
You know where I will be …
Sailing the sea of my imagination
Where memories wash comfort over me.

Art: Danny Hahlbolm
Music: Sailing

a very apt conceit, the vastness and depth of memory and imagination are perfectly suited to your analogy.

Imagination is a really nice place... you can learn a lot about yourself just by doing some sailing inside your head.

Nice work, Mysteria.

Wouldn't it be lovely if we could hear that very compatible musical background while reading this wonderful poem in the book! Your imagination is certainly a vibrant and infectious part of your talent. I found myself sailing on that sea with you and it was certainly a soothing experience. Its deceptive simplicity and gentle imagery gives the poem great power to bring readers into the environment of your imagination to the enhancement of their own. The English poet, Keats, expressed it better: "I affirm...that Poetry, that the imagination, generally speaking, delights in power, in strong excitement, as well as in truth, in good, in right, whereas pure reason and the moral sense approve only of the true and good."  -in letter to George and Georgina Keats (Feb-May 1819).
