We gained serenity from our vows to love
and drew together in celebration
young in spirit and heart we began
our lives of collaboration

Will our love survive to that golden time
will your hand still reach out to find me
will we still note each glance, each touch
that guides us to our eternity

Or will we blink and lose the sight
of what was planned as love’s design
will we turn and walk away
from the world that is yours and mine

Perhaps the future is best unknown
each moment seen as a cherished token
that combined with our love will ever be
a bond that remains unbroken.

When does a memory become an heirloom
to be passed down from heart to soul
when all the beautiful tomorrows
become the yesterdays that make us whole

I just love how you can take everyday language and use it to compose deep, compelling lines of poetry.  This is an excellent choice for the book, I especially love the ending...

Very nice work, PdV.

I really really enjoyed this, Sharon. Such a beautiful way of comparing youth and life to being older and longing for the past. A wonderful addition to the book this will make!

Wow.
