~Cloudrise~

Morning clothed in soulful hazy drear
paint my stormy heart with sultry cheer
oh rain and thunder, lightning come to me
unchain the muse within me...set her free

I love your sound, your scent, your look, your feel
your deepening of senses brings me real
your dismal mantle blurs the sky with dark
streams of wet, I long for you to start

veil the sun with mists of pillared cloud
and yellow streaks with bursts of cracklings, loud
breathe the wind and race it through the trees
dance the darkness bright on feathered breeze

your rumbling cannons echo through the skies
exploding thunderous music of cloudrise

I just love extended apostrophe like this, in reference to nature.  The fact that you accomplished it so smoothly and all within a sonnet format, is truly impressive.  You've captured such an array of storm elements in here, makes me want to run out and play in the rain.

quote:
veil the sun with mists of pillared cloud
and yellow streaks with bursts of cracklings, loud
breathe the wind and race it through the trees
dance the darkness bright on feathered breeze

This stanza is my favourite.  Excellent choice for submission, glad I got the opportunity to read it.

I am so glad I chanced in here today.  This poem is absolutely gorgeous and I cannot say enough how I know the feelings expressed here. It is an exhilleration I only feel with the aproach of the thunderstorm. I have a whole book of poetry called a Song in the Rain for just this reason. I am adding this gem to my library.

I sorely miss seeing your beauty and wit in here.  I whisper a prayer for your health and happiness whenever I think of you and that is often.

Love and healing hugs,
