I stepped past Dillon
And down the steps to my truck
Leaving them there for a moment
To each play the recorded feelings
In a slow motion rewind
And grabbed my thermos
Out of the front seat.

Iambe was still standing there
When I went in the kitchen
Rinsed out the pot
And put a new one on.

I looked at her eyes
The ones I swear could melt
Steel or a heart
Destroying either way

“I’m glad I got to see you.”
I said almost to myself
And saw the almost hidden shake
As if one had followed white lines
Far too long on black nights.

“Travis,” she began,
“I,..well.. I,”

I walked over to her
And put a finger to her lips
And just said, “Shhhh..”

Then went back to rinse out the thermos.

“I figure you and I will always be damned.”
I started as I picked the pot off the burner
And poured steamy black.

“We’re damned to always want.”
I let out as I turned my back to her
And started another pot.

“Problem is, we tear each other apart
and all our wants get tangled in stars
or knotted in words.”

I screwed the lid on the thermos
Poured myself a fresh cup from the new pot
And set them both on the table.

“Come here.” I said

She walked over to me
The shell of her already starting to brittle

I kissed her took another look in those eyes
Before I told her,

“I still don’t dance you know.”
“probably never will”

Konrad was gone
his dust settled

I eased across the gravel slowly
trying not to raise too much
of my own

…………………………………………………………

I’ve seen a Texas sunrise over faded hills
Heard the sound of midnight the lonesome cold cold still
Watched the stars above me crack open coal black sky
Floated on the rivers of ten thousand times good bye

Tell me whats it sounds like to hear your love break
Do echoes softly linger or does it sharp sounds make

On horizons yet to find I’ve seen the moon glow bright
Heard the trees in rustle on long and lonesome night
But still I watch the sunrise each and every day
Thinking how I love you and about the price we pay

Tell me whats it sounds like to hear your love break
Do echoes softly linger or does it sharp sounds make

Leaving quietly, an art in itself.  If ya really think she wanted him to go...
Guess a happy ending was a bit unrealistic to hope for, huh?

Oh, dear!  You just know how to rip out hearts, don't you?

"I figure you and I will always be damned"

..and..

"Tell me what it sounds like to hear your love break"

trying to breath here....this is grand, in every way possible...

By you not publishing (hoepfully you are, and just haven't shared that with us!) you are depriving us...smiling here...whatever you do, please keep sharing here with us....Love it!

Really enjoyed this, Pat

(sigh) Indeed, and I think heartbreaks are those kind of inaudible melodies you never hear but know how sophisicated they sound! (big hugggsssssss) Thisis heartfelt, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ron, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
