Her  head hurt.

Kristie Sue’s car was sitting out on the apron
That led into the shop, just where Joe had dropped it
And she knew she needed to get off the steps,
Make some coffee, then go take a look at it.

But she sat there instead,
Watching the sun continue its climb
Over Beckerman’s  ridge
With the empty bottle of Scary Smooth
Still cradled between her knees.

George pulled up in his old Dodge
And the scattered gravel crunching
Reminded her of another old truck
Pulling in and of the man who always got out of it
With as much caution as a coyote
Who has been trapped once
And now only has three legs
Having chewed the other off
Just to escape.

It was not him
It was George

So she stretched herself up off the stairs
Just as George was about to reach the bottom one.

“Iambe, you alright?” George said.
“Good thing I caught you.”
“You stood up, and stretched like a lazy old barn cat,
then just did a header off the step.”
He continued.

She opened her eyes
And saw she was in her bed
And George was shifting foot to foot
Down at the foot of it
Still talking, though she wasn’t hearing the words.

“Hey George.”  She weakly replied and waved a hand his way.
“Must have been that last slug of Scary Smooth did me in.”
“I’ll be OK, soon as I sleep a bit.” She slurred.
George looked at her as she closed her eyes
Noticing the lines of her face seemed to smooth
And couldn’t remember ever seeing her look that soft.

He backed out of the bedroom and walked to the kitchen.
Paper and a few quick lines to Iambe about how the old truck
Needed  new brakes, and he was out the door,
Locking it when he left.

Iambe stirred
And reached with a half stretched arm
For the other side of the bed
But finding nothing there
Turned her back to the hollow he used to lie in
And pulled her knees up to her chest
And slept.

Somewhere in the sky I named a star for you
And I am left here gazing wondering if you knew
Sometimes in the morning the sun forgets its rise
And I go slightly crazy from the tears found in my eyes
Still the world keeps turning and on we all do ride
Tell me can you tell me where does true love hide.

Susan, thank you ma'am..I truly don't know of anything more pleasing than to have someone say they feel a character you have written..

JM... just a little rhyme of the top of my head...had to try and make this yarn in some way poetic... even if it was rhyme to do it..

*shaking me mothy head*

"just a little rhyme" he says....

Capt, Capt...whats it gonna take to open those eyes of yours....
read those rhymes divine them aloud so that thy blind eyes might see...

"just a little rhyme" he says....

more like a song needing to be sung....

So....when can I expect the rest of the tune

Me and Sen will be your back up girls..
Martie and Sun got the tamborines...
Dunc will play drums....

Now finish that lil diddy ...the moth loves being giddy  lmao....

Well now Capt...thats a dangerous question to ask a greedy moth that craves rhyme LOL

Your first release could turn out to be a double cd

But...I'll be a good moth..

What ever rhymes come to mind will be fine lol
give us some more verses and a chorus to go with that BEAUTY up above..

write me a moth anthem baby

Somewhere in the sky I named a star for you

that's awesome Cpat.  I can't wait until I have the time to go back and read from the beginning...

Ringo...funny you mention him.  That's the nickname of the guy I'm head over for LOL  I guess I'm kind of idiotic....it's not like it's going to happen.  Two different worlds I guess, and my is a dreamland....

So ANYWAY.... Keep up the awesome work Cpat!
