How Long Is A While?

"It takes a while...I know."
this was said to me.
And even longer, I thought
trying to clear away the view
in front of my eyes,
empty my heart of memories.

How long is a while, anyway?
for the moment?
     for the present?
        for the time being?

It will never be short enough for me,
nor long enough to hold onto,
as I open my heart, laying it bare
allowing all that is confined, set free.

I need to steal away from the lies,
that I told myself daily and stop
avoiding the truth before me...
and let "a while" run its course.

M

Wonderfully penned! The epitome of awhile. Fleeting when one may say only a while...agony in length of time when awaiting pain to go.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

I heard two weeks once, but that as wrong!  Still counting...

~M~

Yes, and that it must. In it's own time and it's own way. I think just letting go and letting it be, helps.
Not saying it is easy. One of the hardest things to do.

I am beginning to hate "time", present past and future.

Time is NOT on my side.

Thank you for reading my "crap" today.

I have asked myself this question, so many times. It seems that it is forever. Not soon enough for me.

Ah, the things we say when commitment is an uncomfortable notion.  Thanks for this edgy reminder!

Virginia, yes that word  almost contradicts itself. Thank you.

Duncan, two weeks only..I should wish *s thank you

Thank you Pat

In it's own time and it's own way...that's is what I tell everyone. No such thing as letting go in my vocabulary. Living with is more like it.
Sue, same here *s

Dixie, I knew you would understand.

Robert Frazier, not sure about a commitment

Julie thank you *s
