Between the Lines

There is always an emptiness,
like a tear in a sweater,
the hole just increases in size
as it gets caught on my hopes,
those that will never arrive,
and the loss of trust that I rely on.
I thought myself able to discern
between good and evil,
right and wrong, and the virtue
of my being, but I was wrong...

great piece...

you have discerned much here, if not what you thought you could... but what you now know -  just sounds like the voice of experience to me.
