Within Each Tear

There is a name within each tear
There is a pain or tender fear
And every droplet from the eye
Awaits a bit before you cry

For it was trembling deep within
And vacillating on the rim
Of sorrow’s chalice full and sore
From which the teardrops begged to pour

There is a joy within each tear
From yesterday’s most distant year
A joy so deep it carved a place
For sorrows tears to fill the space

In every drop the bitter feel
The salty taste of what was real
A joy remembered, pain renewed
Forgotten kiss, a portrait viewed

A wellspring filled with tears of strife
Primed every day by living life
A tear for love, a tear for pain
Sweet sound of softest midnight rain

A teardrop on a pillow shed
One for the live, one for the dead
Not every teardrop is the same
But in each one there is a name

and this, this beautiful piece just made me burst to tears.
Though it seems alot of things are doing that today. But its beautiful... more than I can say right now.

Elizabeth,

So many beautiful lines, but one of my favorites is:

"sweet sound of softness midnight rain"

Enjoyed greatly, Pat

..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons..

Enjoyed the contrasts..and yes there are tears for many reasons, each having a name.

Liz, this is beautiful. I was going to say what Maureen said...
each teardrop does have a name...and a story behind it....

They each contain a name, so true. So beautifully expressed, Elizabeth, as always!

So right you are dear lady Liz and so beautiful you've put it to words.

You are my Queen of poetry
I think that way each time I see
The beautiful lines you write in blue
My Queen of Poetry Liz, that's you
