               "heavy thoughts"

when i hear the snickers, when i see the stares,i remind myself im beautiful, but nobody cares. i see in the resturant, they wanna know how,i can eat so little, yet look like a cow.

once this lady whispers as she softly shook her head,"such a shame to waste that pretty face" is what she said.

i wonder if they would feel bad,if they only knew why,my stomach is so bloated, the largeness of my thighs? they probably wouldnt feel anything at all, with their flat little tummys and their being so tall.

i know i have a good heart,i know i have a smart mind, but i also have feelings, and being fat doesnt make me blind.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Shannon, don't let them get you down, you believe in what you feel, you are beautiful, and let them say what they say for they have yet to realize and understand that they are beautiful too as they must cope with dissatisfactions of their owns, this is such a sincere and poignant debut, I love it! Welcome to Passions, sweet Shannon, may you be inspired by all of us here as we will all be inspired by your lovely words! I can't wait to read more of your lovely words, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Shannon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Hello Shannon!
Welcome to Pips. I could feel both hurt and resolve to not-be-hurt within this piece.
It's just the outer body strangers see. Until someone really takes the time to (if given the opportunity) meet the individual that lives inside, it is quite common, unfortunatley, for many people to simply look and 'size' people up. Let them see your spirit and strength. And perhaps, your assumptions are incorrect?
I think you'll find many many readers in here who will want to 'see' the inner soul of Shannon, and who will not stare unkindly at the outer manifestation.
Welcome to this home.

Shannon, I, like most, am of the opinion "that size doesn't matter!"...

This is a powerfully impassioned and moving piece of writing. You bared your soul and let your readers get to know you better. Your strength shone through your pain.

Warm hugs,
EA

All too often people assume that a person is overweight because of their own doing.  You and I both know just how ignorant that is.

I hate that you hurt like this.  I know first hand what a beautiful person you are.  From the moment you were born I knew we were to be bonded forever in a special way.  Through the years there have been times when we thought as if one.  Remember that is what really counts in life, the love of your family and friends.

Love, Euwy

Shannon, It's a sad reality that we don't love like we could and should.  I hear your voice, and you are beatiful!

Shannon, ~Welcome to Passions~

My twin sister also had a weight problem (250 @ 5'2) twice as much as I, yet that did not stop her from being attractive to many men. (and women)  Her personality had everything to do with it. She, too, had a medical problem and the only time she could lose weight was when she was pregnant, believe it or not. She met and married twice; first husband died of heart attack, and she met another very attractive, business man who simply adored her...attitude is everything..and unfortunately there are very cruel, mean-spirited people who can only feel good about themselves when critisizing others.

I enjoyed your honesty and like the others, am assuming you are writing about yourself, however, sometimes poets don't do that. So, if you are writing about yourself you have come to the  ~write~ place and I look forward to reading more of your poetry.

Hugs, Pat

..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons..

Shannon, I liked your poem when I read it, but even more so when I read your replies and saw that it was about yourself. I really admire somone who writes from their heart. Especially when they can write with such honesty. I write from my heart, too, but it's a lot easier for me to write love poems to the man of my life than it is for me to write about some of the sad things that happened before I met him.

Welcome to Passions and I hope to read more of your poetry......
