Are You a Poet

Are you a poet? May I take moment of your time?
Would you please write a sonnet for my dearest valentine?
I need someone to write for me the things he’s never heard
For love is very fragile and so delicate the word

I wouldn’t attempt to string a phrase with starlight from his eyes
Nor gather breezes of the night to whisper lullabies
So sensitive his longing ear, so gentle is his hand
So strong yet weak, the loving heart and feelings of this man

Please tell him in a tender way how he has touched my heart
And if it were by my desire, we never more would part
Oh how courageous is my heart to warrant such a dream
Perhaps you’ll find the perfect phrase within a moonlit beam

Dear poet, write a sonnet of desires most sublime
And laced with love and paper hearts, a simple valentine

Nan, I'll give you an hour or two. It will be very beautiful, I'm sure.
I hope Denise blesses us also with one of her beautiful sonnets

Sonnet?
Not my forte,
Sweet verses not my way
But since you ask so sweetly, well...
OK.

Liz--I wish that I could do all these things, and perhaps I will, but not in a sonnet.  Beautiful poem, sweet lady.

ratleader, A sonnet left open for interpretation, huh. Or will there be a sonnet to come? Time will tell. Thanks for reading

Marti, You, of course may break the rules. A valentine is a valentine is a rose

Muys, how about something from the heart? Doesn't have to be a sonnet. Thank you, dear mother

Sonnets Two

~In the Mists of Time~

In the mists of time, once kissed a heart soft and light
Led into a world, sensation filled, of pure delight
From lips, so sweetened, of you, one could never tire
Feasting only with passion's taste, and morning dew's desire
A pleading look from bluest eyes of piercing needs
Blending bodies, touching, taunting, teasingly feeds
Emotions rising, yielding, calling, escaping in sighs
Together reaping rewards of loving, pooling in eyes
Tears of happy, of time spent with no tomorrows
Loving today, savoring that which is, having no sorrow
Sharing your heart each night and your words by day
Sustained the loving forever in memories this way

Each time the sun, the moon the stars lit up the sky
We shared wine and bread together you and I

~~ We Kiss the Mist~~

In the darkest corner of my mind, I yield to you
My heart and soul, of stolen pasts, once hid from view
Exposure now, a symphony of rhythms sweet of sound
Soothing me in trying times, when tears rain down
Upon this earth shall come another time
Releasing hearts, unburden sorrows, yours and mine
To share a love and spirit us to heights once more
This future rendezvous, in journey's path to peace, we soar
Gone the fear, no pain to feel, as breezes touch
And tenderly, we kiss the mist, once loved so much
We'll walk through shadows, darkness will abate
Before our eyes, will open lover's gate
And taste, we will from each and fill our cup
We will break bread and from the wine glass sup

I don't think I've ever seen a challenge more beautifully worded! I'll see what I can come up with, Elizabeth. Whether my pen flows or proves dry, I'll enjoy reading all the others!

my valentine

in the darkness her tender amour
touched him as he cradled her head she
continued to run her fingers through his
ivory hair curling his long locks around
her finger while whispering love
poetry in his ear he
raised his mouth
from her spring
taking her beauty in
her hair lay spread across
the pillow like an aureole around
her face he knew that she was a saint of
light & blessed with specialness that shown
in the eyes of all she touched and possesses
a mysterious ability to make others smile no
matter how blue their day had been she
has a soft story for all occasions

he gently wrapped his
arms around her being careful of her
tenderness he took her mouth unto his and
softly kissed her and carried her away to his
mountain home to forever be his dear
sweet rose

not a sonnet just a prose

Speaking of ghosts, and after such an eternity. . .wouldn't you know, here comes mine again...

Elizabeth,
The best I could do on short notice.

A Valentine

A sonnet is a sonnet
When your heart is full upon it
And it flies a snow-white dove
With the warmest of your love

A valentine of words divine
And sends a ripple up your spine
And brings your eyes a lonely tear
To hold the paper they were near.

It is a message deepest sigh
A swear, a prayer, a loving cry.
It is to me a paper wish
Upon a flowers paper dish

But with the essence of the truth
Weather age or from a youth
It says to you in deepest awe
A love that has no end in store

A sonnet is a sonnet
When your heart is full upon it.

Love Sy

Liz~
This is the most beautiful 'challenge' I've ever seen,
and now I've got my poetic thinking cap on.
I'll see what I can do to meet the challenge.
Hugs,
~Vicky

Oh Liz..this is so beautiful!!
I'm afraid I never learned the proper way of writing a sonnet...
But I shall be posting a Valentine verse or two this coming week.

Liz, this is beautiful, the way you have written this challenge...but a poet, I'm not...and I also don't know  anything about writing the beautiful way that all of you talented writers here write. So, I'll just keep posting my little old "whatever's" to my Love. He knows they're from my heart and likes to read the poem and replies, so I print mine off for him. It's kind of like we write a "Valentine" to each other every day of the year, almost.
.
.
Even though I can't meet your beautiful challenge, sweet lady, I will certainly enjoy reading all of yours and everyone elses who meets the challenge. I'm much the "hopeless romantic", you know...

.
.
With heart hugs from
Ethel
