I found a teardrop today
thought to be safely tucked away
From my heart, coming to the surface
rolling down my face

If only they would go away
those hurts from long ago
The ones that caused the heartaches
and made the teardrops flow

Funny how it happens
when we think they are all gone
Reappearing when least expected
this time brought on by a song

If only they would go away
those hurts from long ago
The ones that caused the heartaches
and made the teardrops flow

Sometimes the reason's quite simple
that causes the teardrops to flow
When they really get started
are sometimes hard to control

Whenever this happens
there is not much a person can do
but just let the teardrops flow
and hope this time they are through

If only they would go away
those hurts from long ago
The ones that caused the heartaches
and made the teardrops flow

But knowing they'll come again
making an appearance grand
As long as the hurt stays inside
and making its strong stand

Just when I think they're gone
never to return again
They stick up their ugly face
with their hateful grin

If only they would go away
those hurts from long ago
The ones that caused the heartaches
and made the teardrops flow

If only they
would
go
away

IF ONLY........boy sometimes i feel as though my entire life is living on if only's. Fortunately we have the power within us to turn those If only's into reality.  Our only problem is having the patience to ride out the storm.   Great job on the write.

Ethel, this is very touching. I know what you mean about those teardrops just popping up. I too wish they would go away for good. I hope you are okay.

Hi Toe

Good to see you.......

Thanks for the poem.....and I loved your reply on
other thread. Did you see my thing I wrote yesterday
about the Vietnam Vets..."Let's Stand Behind Our Troops".
I really couldn't get out the way I really feel about
the whole situation. I just know that
I'm proud to be an american
Well, didn't mean to say all that.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Ethel, I know this feeling ever too well too, sweet friend, I still have those tears in me too, of my almost committing suicide, the abuse and rape of some of my loved ones, and my depression of the past and even of my recent heartbreak with Joanna, and now the possible war coming in which I have been heavily campaigning the anti-war poetry movement against, which frankly isn't going so well! (sad sigh) This is heartfelt, sweet friend, I send many angel hugs your way, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Very well written, heart touching.
Sometimes, when I become overwhelmed or, find myself crying a bit too much I know I have work to do. FOR ME, I didn't thoroughly grieve a particular person or sometimes, even an event which happened. I MAKE myself, in writing, go through all the processes of greiving and it helps eliminate those spontaneous tears. Though I'll always get teary-eyed, there is an emormous difference after having fully and properly grieved. It is a letting go which is so necessary to get on with life. FOR ME, that is...to each his own and I wish you success in putting these unresolved heartaches away for good.

Hugs and love to you, Miss: I Love America!  So, do I! smiles here...

..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons..

Julie,
thank you. I'm glad that you liked the poem.
.
.
Lisann,
yeah, it does seem that way sometimes. If the storm
would go away completely, though, the sunshine in
my life now, could be as bright as it should be. I'm just
very thankful that my Love is so patient with me... :
.
.
sue,
I'm glad that you like the poem, but sorry that your
tears pop up. Maybe one day the tears will wash away
all the hurt for us. I hope so.
Yeah, I'm okay. I thank God that my Gary has been so patient
with me about all my past hurts.....
.
.
With heart hugs to you all from
Ethel

Noah, I'm sorry that you can relate to this so much.
I wish that you had never suffered so much heartache.
Sometimes the scars are a long time healing, but writing
and the tears sometimes help, don't they?
Thank you for understanding, friend.

Goodmorning Pat,

As always, I love your wisdom. Your replies (and poetry)
always help me a lot. I do think you would be a very
good counselor.....you have the wisdom,
with love and compassion added in, that would make
a very good one....
.
.
By the way, "Jesus Pat", I really like your spunk and
the ability to say what needs to be said at times. You
say lots of things that others are thinking, but just
don't know the right words to say. And oh yes, I am
definitely  proud to be an AMERICAN from the
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,
just as I know you are, too.

I like this very much, gg... and when I get on too bad a crying spree, I figure I'm just replenishing the oceans. *G* HUGS.

So true, sweet Suthern lady. Depression is a "dirty dog", all right.

And I think I've replenished some of the Gulf Of Mexico waters, too....

You wrote of this well, Ethel. I could feel your tears, and want for  their end and the memories...
I can recall days I used to spend crying, and not able to stop, but they were definitely needed, to a point. And I knew what the point was.
What's bad, and what I just want to warn you not to do, is block the tears. Leads to more pain, and a deep need for them and inability to cry. this is getting long isn't it?
Hugs to you
Always, Alyssa

garysgirl -- I have never forgotten your reply to one of my poems.  It was called "My Black House."  I'm sure you've forgotten by now but I haven't.  I've followed your poems ever since and I am truly moved by what you are revealing of yourself.  You request a response if your poem touches my heart, oh, yes, it has touched my heart and so do you.  I did respond to your comment about my poem but it was so late I'm sure you never saw it.  Please keep writing about the hurts as well as the joys.  The hurts need to be aired even more.  I wish you the very best life has to offer.  Love,  Barb
