Drifting through the windows closed,
The wind of midnight winter;
Gently the old curtain blows
As the outside does enter.
Spilt water quickly freezes
There no flame for its heating
To repel those ice breezes
To keep tired hearts beating.
It’s seemingly endless night
And just one old candle burns
Giving all the heat and light
That to my attention turns.
The length now turns to nothing
Darkness swallows all the cold
There is movement of something
As the lurker now grows bold.
Scurry closer to me here
Matters not if foe or friend
I flinch not as you grow near
And wait for the night to end.

Gloom

I read everything with your name.  I love them all.  That room is where I am today.

Thank you, Cpat Hair,
Pleased you enjoyed,
T’is my mood today; bleak and cold,
The cold returns with promise of more snow
My bones ache at the change of the weather.

Thank you, Susan,
You praise my humble words greatly.
If you are there, I fear for your safety.

Nay, Sir...
flinch not
in the light of the candle...
all is not ever so lost
as the light
won't come through...

enjoyed your words, Sir...always do.  You teach me....

perspective.

Thank you, Sunshine

If you look far enough off all lines come together
That is perspective.

But with me all things blend together in darkness
Which comes nearer
And nearer

I wonder just how long till my candle burns out.

Your words are always kind

I can feel the cold of you
at windows edge inside these walls
expecting snow (in play I love)
the kind that swirls and comes in squalls.

Tonight, this eve, I'll warm my thoughts
in comfort layers, and share with you
until the morning reappears
and gentle whiteness becomes the view.

I do love snow...
