The Convolvulus

Read, then read more,
then again,
then come, share

for to bind in weed, to choke
other life
is convoluted in itself,
no matter how beautiful the trumpet

but look,
Darwin saw…

For the weed in bind
cares not for root space and food
of the dirt,

nay…

it longs for a full share
and more
of air, and light,

more essential to its growth
and life
than that upon which
it rests
its stems

and turns
counter-clockwise
to find its path.

Wonderful imagery here, good metaphor.
We humans tend to repeatedly choke off our own life-giving sources of air, water, and food. Not to mention our violent habits.
Your poem offers much food for thought.
As for survival of the fittest? We may not be the fittest species in the long run.

Well, when I first read the title, I thought that this might be a naughty poem! tehe

Seriously speaking...it definitely wasn't!

A stop and think and reread and think again sort of poem! You made me work at this one!

Warm hugs,
