Mannequin

You never chose
To hold this pose,
To wear these clothes,
To pick your nose,
Never held a garden hose,
Never smelled the scent of rose.
You’ve never soldered a connection
Never paused for vain reflection,
Never fretted your complexion,
Or asked a stranger for direction.
You’ve never felt the heat of printer’s lead,
Or known the joy of spring when winter’s fled,
Searched the boat until you found the head,
Gloried in the smell of baking bread,
Or pushed the snooze alarm and stayed in bed.
You don’t see mountain sky and think of lapis lazuli
Nor muse in quiet moments on the man you used to be.
You’ve never taken vows to love one woman faithfully
Nor crabbed your plane across the wind to land tangentially.
You’ve never been
Man or man’s kin,
Mannequin.

Hi Ed...I like what you say here...except perhaps for the nose picking, which sort of threw me off course..the rest is beautiful, not for what it says about the mannequin, but for what it says about man.

I like the pickin',

(I know I give more than I take)
I hope I'm never found and cought

Oh you did do it!

wow--I'm impressed.  :O)

I also like "man on man's kin"

Clever... clever.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.
