When I am gone
and not around
I want no mound
to mark the ground
where I lay still
but let me be
alive and well
in memories

of those I touched
and knew me well
my wish is such
a place to dwell
and let them feel
me in the breeze
that keys the move-
ment of the trees

and let me rest
in Waldon's Pond
then to the stars
and far beyond
I'll be a part
of nature's plan
inside the heart
of every man

and let them see
me in the eyes
of lovers' glee
and baby's cries
for I will be
in all these things
in rains that fall
in birds that sing

and this will be
my epitaph
'he laughed to live
and lived to laugh
and laughed at life
he never dropped
until the day
the laughter stopped'

then I will rest
a restful sleep
I did my best
now trust my keep
to He above
who shows the way
to endless love
for this I pray.

AHA!!! Henry David Thoreau!!! (big hugggssssssss) I think he truly is a friend to every one of us, who continues to inspire us all in spirit as He may be free now but His poetry is eternal! God Bless You, sweet friend, you have done him great justice, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

The keys of you
will always jingle,
'Deer,
here in the blue walls...

such an honor
you've given
to those that should
always be remembered...

ROFL @ Toe lurking... *G* My bet is that neither of you will ever forget the other. *S*

This is beautiful, Bal... and I know that special friend appreciates it very much. *S*

I know my last request won't be honored... even though I think resting between Daddy's daffodil bed and my pet graveyard would be perfect for me. *G*

As to how I'm remembered... I just hope it's not with grimaces. *G*

Michael, simply incredible!

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,

the morning star, still kiss the dawn

’Deer dearest heart thank you muchly it does help to know that he is with HIM. Right now not a lot does help so I thank you for this beauty.

All my dreams are wrapped in night right now, and I can’t think beyond the next hour, and it is at times like this that I value your friendship so very much. Thank you always for all you are

Drape My Soul

Drape my soul in swathe of night
Keep me away from bright daylight
Just let the world pass on by
Leave me here wrapped in night’s sigh
And when the moon passes o’re me
Hide my face from her scrutiny
She’ll see the tears that seep from eyes
So red and sore from sorrows cries

Dress me in the darkness of night
Don’t sprinkle me with sweet sunlight
I can’t bear its warming smile
So leave me here for a short while
I don’t want to see sunlight shine
Or to feel that after all will be fine
There is no light that feels quite true
I want to share the dark with you

Wrap me in the stark cold night
Shut me away from soft starlight
I don’t want to see moonlights face
Or feel the touch of its pure trace
Let shadows wrap all around me
Let me walk these paths softly
There’ll be no warmth while I’m here
I’m washed in ice and sorrow’s tears

Shadow’s hand keeps me in night
Far from the warmth of healing light

Marsha

Thank you always
Mushy

Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds
but I can face the future with courage brave and bold

very Beautiful Michael.

Tracey hugs and warm thoughts for your loss and.

Marsha, my friend...Needing Peace (reposted)

Visited today...
climbed the rolling green hill.
Words prepared,
when reaching you, were gone.

Weakly, gliding shaking hand
over strong gray marble,
warmed by the sun's heat
familiar names on either side,
brought to mind happier times.

Surrounded by ocean blue skies
huge clouds floating above
wondering...
Can you see my tears?
Can you share my pain?
Can you hear my thoughts?

Lifting my head,
through damp eyes,
noticed a tiny shell resting
on another's edge.
Examined the spiral within a spiral,
once a life within a life...
left behind in memory
of someone "special".

I have nothing to leave this time
only sorrowful news
and eternal love.

Leaning, my body against
for support now
peacefulness entered my soul,
stilled my shaking
arresting my thoughts
hoping the winds of today
will dry my tears,
becoming the soft breezes
of my tomorrows

My kissed fingers
touched your etchings saying goodbye,
before walking the paths of others,
reaching out to touch their warmth in passing
hoping they too, can feel mine
knowing a part of my heart
remains for all to share
in eternal peace.

That's a beautiful poem, Marsha, filled with the feelings you are experiencing now, I know. God bless....

Thank you, Maureen, for sharing that. I hadn't seen it and I'm glad I didn't miss it.

Tracy...I am SO sorry to hear that, my friend. Seeing that smiling face across from me sipping a Corona and now thinking of what you must be going through makes me want to say something of comfort but I don't have the words...I am very sorry for your loss

What a beautiful piece, Michael. Your cadence and rhyme are impeccable as always.

My 'deer ... I have no doubt that the memories you have woven through your words, your stories, and your actions will surround all those you have touched forever and a day. I'm living proof of that.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit
