Once I awoke to a different day
Followed a dream to a distant drum
Looking to find my place in the sun

Only time walked through my mind
Welcomed me to a new beginning
Challenged me to answer from deep within

Castle’s in the sand built by a foolish man
Watched in a mirror as he shivered and shook
Waited for him to come to me, if only in aspirations

Downs to go to bed and ups to clear my head
Dancing with the shadows and perfume left upon the pillows
Seems you knew you’d cherish the scents, ever before the dawn of gone

Then one moment , words formed a tapestry
They cradled the moon as if wet to rain
Watched me as I tried to rope the wind

From “Take me if you must”
To perfect to be real, I seemed to feel
The weight of passing thoughts…tears flowed like rain

So reappears the bad man, the sad man, the mad man
Kicking Cowboy ass and scratching the Texas terrain
their ladies claiming all the while, this heart held the patent on love

Then one day, forty becomes more than something you drink
You come to realize, Jack Black doesn’t mix well with twenty five
Sober you realize through the blues, God has seen fit to allow you another day

Back to the blizzards of the north, legal tender calls you to come forth
Where proudly you display your Rams jacket to all of Packer land, dare them to take a stand
Whereby the ladies, still swear you care, for they are unaware, inside you died…long ago

Never one to like the Coke, I just liked the way it smelled
Or maybe again maybe it was the way the blue eyed ladies yelled
When I swore as I watched them contort, I couldn’t snort…Viagra

Call it as you may, see things as you must
Soon the Moon will once again call me out
Until then I shall ponder and wonder…where are my damn car keys?
