In the mind beats
The beauty of the heart
Being pumped by lungs
Needing pure freshness
In the moisture
That our lips require

In the waste
That needs to be expelled
Purging thoughts of ill will
That attacks the rhythm
In a chemo cleaning
Within the refreshment
Of filtered purity

We look for others
To inspire our own creativity
Yet we have the internal flame
For in our independent thinking
Lies a bouquet so special
We are arranged spontaneously

In the heavens of universes
We are unique creatures
Sharing two worlds
Of humanities blessings
In the faith of inner and outer
Peace and tranquility
Living in our individual souls

In the food that sustains
The dreams of generations
The greatest gift one could give
Lies in the communication
Of human bonding
In the love that respects one another
As equals in the name of all religions
Praying together for world peace

How can one poet’s words
Create the magic of healing
Only if the words are merged
With those of other poets and thinkers
Along with readers whose
Tears bleed in the hope
That people are listening
To their hearts pumping
Free of prejudices

Thought: There are those that will call me anti American for hoping for world peace in the religion that lies within me. Am I a traitor for we must act impulsively? With my tears come the memories lost in a war they called a conflict. I too was impulsive and signed a contract before I would be drafted. The Dominoes Theory was too political a WAR for me, for it changed daily in the battle fields of lost lives. Yet the battle today, for those who served, is not over for they fight it in their spirit every day. They are still veterans, willing to commit only to a just war with moral principles. But the past flaws of political and corporate views can not cloud the decision process. For a war should never be about oil or any other natural resource. It has to be about all nations living in peace together, respecting every individual freedom of being a man or woman being blessed to be alive. So I am veteran poet whose war is with his words which haunt him in endless thoughts. I fight my battles now by trying to make people look at the beauty within them. But in my lonely world, words of hate seem to trigger more of a response than ones that love. So I will continue to make love to the puzzle of life in the dictionary called living.

Thought: My minds torment lies in the belief that my words will never be felt in the love of the language that they where intended to give, while my lungs are still breathing. As I said before, I am a poet and can be very moody, that is my life sentence.

Thought: I dedicate this poem to the astronauts who died today from all the walks of life. Whose exploration was for a world at peace whose platform they left was international. May they rest in peace from the blessings of all the faiths of all the world’s religions. Let them be our guardian angels twinkling in our eyes from the heavens of hope.

D Lester,
Tis a powerful poem and powerful thoughts behind it. I believe that these time brings out the heart in each of us and in your case it also brings out the poet.

I liked a great deal, the third and fourth stanzas.....

In this line:

"In the love that respects one another"

I believe is the answer to all....

Lots of heavy thinking and caring in this Dave.  Thanks for this thinking piece. Am glad to see you post it.
Thoughtful tribute as well.

Hope you are doing okay, Hugs, Pat

You do have a powerful way of getting your point across. I really admire the ability in a person to stand up for what they believe in, whether I agree with those beliefs or not. Thank you for sharing your beliefs with us...

Thank you for honoring the individual, for each bouquet has its own unique fragrance, its individual beauty which is part of the totality of humanity.
