Lost in thought

I could never catch the sentiments
And write them on a page
I could never tell of all the grief
And painful useless rage.

Blood shot eyes
From sleepless nights
And salty tears
Gave me my life.

Well there were days I sat and hummed
I spoke to a dreaming corpse
Still smothered in a smile; she heard,
Eyes closed of course.

I spoke to nurses
Gave out shots
Went to school
And did the lot.

Glad to do the tasks at hand
Months spread out.

"Blood sugar’s high. I think," they’d say.

"I’ll check it out" I’d head that way.
Yea it is, another scare,
Call the nurse; already there.

"Just let ‘er rest, there’s not much time."

She’s fast asleep, this choice is mine.

And do the right thing, usually
Singing most importantly.

Sun came in October clouds,
They rolled away and rain had ceased.
One’s lifetime wish, smile, ending.
Love still held but life released.

- And so it was that time stood still -
     (blink, breathe, stand, fight)

This is a sad one...but you have told it well, the sweet releasing that comes at the end and the peaceful feeling that rests.

Nice work GG~

Oh, this one is great writing through and through. It puts into words the reality of loss, and the fact that we never ever forget. Thank you for this one.

BluesSerenade,
Thank you, I'm glad you found it nice and noticed some peace in it. Thank you for replying

Pat,
Thanks. Wasn't sure what I had aimed to capture, but I wrote, and it was from the heart, I'm glad you find it well written. Thanks again, for replying.
Hugs, and love to you.

Ericc,
I'm glad you think so, and I'm glad you replied, thank you.

Sunnyone,
I'm not really sure anyone could put into words the reality of loss. But as someone who writes, I'm honored that you said this does. Thank you very much. And yes, we'll never forget some things...

Ethel,
I'm glad you think so. I almost hesitate to show anyone writing like this, the truth of something like this is felt by (all too)many, but for those who never feel it.. I don't want them to come close to its pain.
Again, thank you, all of you.

And say a prayer for the family and friends of those astronauts.. please.
Always, Alyssa
