         ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If you had known me then
    You would have asked me
    to dance.
    Being the free spirit I was,
    I might have given you
    the chance.
    If you had known me then
    You would have liked
    my style.
    I was hip, I was cool
    With an honest and
    open smile.
    Fear was unkown and
    getting older was
    so far off.
    If adults discussed
    "golden years"
    I would flip my hair
    and scoff.
    But, years do fly by
    Time does not freeze
    You live life as
    you must
    and not
    as you please.
    My youth has since
    parted.
    Though I still flirt
    and blush.
    When questioned of age
    I say it with pride -
    but in hush.
    Home life is good now
    I am blessed with
    romance.
    Yet, if the right tune
    should play
    Would you ask me
    to dance?
Chris--Why you little flirt you!   Youth is a state of mine, I think you're in.  And, I'll bet you can still flip your hair.
Chris,
I don't care how long the line is or was...I would ask you to dance!
If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
I would ask you to dance, my friend, but a slow dance, my favorite.     Yes, age sure does run up on us quickly, but there truly is a lot to be said for getting older.  I kinda like it.
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn
