Four Little Numbers
By Larry Chadwick
It’s just a calculator, but with those four numbers...1974

It’s a small thing seldom noticed,
That only served a basic need.
I seldom gave it any thought,
And paid it very little heed.

But now I commit that little act,
That means so much to me.
It adds that little extra touch,
An opportunity for me to see.

So as I sit down to my desk,
Before I start my morn.
I enter four numbers on the pad,
The year my girl was born.

January 30, 2003

Hello Larry

It's good to see you here. I like this poem and the thought
behind it....

Ya make me mothy heart smile...
the traces left behind leave us those gifts of sweet remind.

If made to choose between the power of writing a poem
or the ecstasy of a poem unwritten I would choose ecstasy
In the end it is better poetry

Larry, you have such a gentle, caring and thoughtful soul. I believe that when you write down the numbers of your daughter's birthdate, you are dialling her number in heaven. This daily "phone call" keeps you in touch and connected. God bless you both! Next time, please say hello from Earth Angel.

Love & Light,
Linda

I liked the mental picture of you doing this Larry and the calculator then setting on your desk.  These moments, poetry is written for.

I think I'll accentuate the positive. And thanks.

Thank you for generous words. And bless you for your kindness.

Kacy,
Ain't that the truth.

Krystopher,
You are so very right! It's good to see Texas is still in the USA.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
