Success is ........ the Robin Success is the robin in wet April morn Contriving a cradle to lay the unborn It is not an abundance to which he lays claim Rather bearing an offspring, the course of his aim Sense of failure exists not, nor does victory lead A doe to determine the measure of need Her treasure lies deep in a thicket of brush Her joy is the woodland turned verdant and lush Discontentment blooms not in the wild of the hills Survival and loss sharpen inherent skills Success is fictitious, invented by man And failure, the lack of success in his hand Those deeds that are born out of love from the soul Reap a far sweeter fruit than the ones we extol Then witness the robin, admire the doe They sing silent tunes in the world that they know Unpretentious, the beasts strike harmonious chords Invisible deeds bring the greatest rewards Elizabeth santos Jan 26, 2003 |
