Escape!

     Race bare,
    from warm lair,
         fluffed furry,
   can't protect

from

lashing, stinging tongue.

   Feeling filleted,
     as if skinned alive,

stripped!

   Wetted welts,
I run.

     Hot printed traces,
   in muddy melt,
      wounded pulsates

tell,

    of living,
or,
    of dying.

Hop! Hop! Hop!

    To musical notes
        of your luscious lips,
   singing,

     ~your kill.~

I huddle hide,
    in life's lean-to,
concealed,
  healing heat
  from inside, out.

In your satiated slumber,
     I shall catch you,
surprised.

Though yet bared to soul,
       I will return to lair,
  I am warm throughout.

   Now, ~cured.~

For,
your tongue lashing produced

       ~rawhide,~

I, tougher than ever before.

Next time,
  your flailing fury
  will snap backwards,

choking you
     on the truth
          you would not see.

.

Your
words
cannot
kill
me.

Pat, even though abusive words can't actually kill, they certainly can hurt. They do make us tougher, in a way, but they still make scars that are very hard to heal....

This was very interesting, and I like the way you wrote it, too.

All too true it displays the strength we gain by the pain we're faced with.

innocence to hidden caution..we learn on times say so...how abrasive to the tender other words can be...

Enjoyed... strongly written.

Sy,

Thanks for reading and replying.
smiling here...my soft brushes need a good cleaning, first....loaded with stardust...from last write.

Ethel,

Words can kill, depending on the age of the little spiritual bunny....given enough time however, God can heal those wounds creating a flawless, priceless pelt...to warm Himself...

Hugs, and thanks for replying. Pat

Alyssa,

You are right, yes, we gain strength..
Thanks for reading/replying. Hugs and love to you..

Ron,

So true. ~Abusive~ to the tender, others words can be...sometimes, even tender quiet words can rip a soul...guess it depends on what was said.....

thanks for reading/replying  Pat

Loved those lines, isn't that the way it is though?

Words can kill self-esteem, it happens all the time.  Enjoyed much, Pat, nice work!

geezzzz...I read that aloud and  it got stronger and stronger...'til the end.

A tongue lashing almost hurts worse than a bruise...a bruise can heal but words are ingrained forever in the mind.

You definitely worked the metaphor for all it was worth, and your title just about says it all.

Enjoyed the tough texture of your words
and the strength that stands behind them.

*Bravo* Pat~
