A Grandmother's Wishes

A grandmother’s wishes are simple and few
But they carry the truth that could help see you through
If you listen you’ll hear as she’s waving good-bye
The most delicate message that passes you by

No need for a star, her request to beseech
Just a little advice she’s attempting to teach
But you leave without pondering the richness of heart
That bestows you a gift just before you depart

“My love for you always will be just the same”
Then she kisses your cheek as she whispers your name
And you fail to acknowledge she means deep inside
That the person you are is the source of her pride

No matter your failures no matter your choice
No judgment is rendered within her sweet voice
What she tried hard to tell you before you left home
Was be true to yourself and the love of your own

See the beauty of life, feel the vastness of love
Know that all souls entwine under heaven above
A grandmother’s wishes are simple and few
Her love’s unconditional, solid, and true

Unconditional...and...it doesn't bear on blood ties...I know.  This is beautiful, Lady Santos, and I thank you for sharing a grandmother's heart...

How true this is!
Exactly how I feel about my grandchildren.
Much enjoyed dear Elizabeth.

I still remember and have saved all the wonderful letters from my German grandmother who lived with us, and they were written in her accent, of course. Many were a lifeline to me when I was far from home. I could tell her anything because grandparents don't judge you. No matter what, she always said it would turn out right in the end, not to worry.
Thank you grandmothers and grandchildren for your comments
Liz

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Elizabeth, this deeply touched my heart, though I am still a small pup, I understand how my grandmother loves me so much and I love her so much and I never wish to take a minute for granted to listen to her and remember her smile as I know soon her time will come and I want to know all the love in her heart! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Lovely, and I'm (sob) wiping away tears because, although I'm a Grandma now, I still really miss my own Grandma who, at age 91, passed on almost six years ago.  She was the one person with whom I could share almost everything...

Now when my daughter complains about her almost teenage son (because he's being a normal pre-teen boy), I just laugh, because to me he's just wonderful (and it's payback time!!!)

Lovely write!!
