I hope that's how you spell the name of the blue-gray bird with a black head and white beak. It's a ground feeder and absolutely charming to me.

Junco Jive

The junco goes a bobbin’,
white beak centered on his head.
Then spying my fingers twitch,
he flits away instead.

I miss the little junco
and the friends that us’ally play
about my patio and bed
in the seed and leaf array.

I’d no idea that he would know
someone’s watching from the wing,
and he would fly a beeline for
a perch that’s safe to cling.

O, Little Junco, please return
your charm does woo me so
I love to watch your smooth black head,
why did you have to go?

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

I expect he'll be back - He probably doesn't like the cold either... Nicely written, VAS...

You captured my favorite bird, being himself. Love those little critters!
