We walk in bitterness
for home and hearth is lost
while wandering, through the dark
we stop to count the cost.

Too many friendships gone
too many hearts lie cold
we yield to dark of night
without return to fold

How did it come to this?
So bright arrayed, we left
the armour of the clan,
not telling of the cleft.

Blessed and bound to go
our journey to the night
rent apart by war
unready for the fight.

But go we did, to war
to answer trumpet's call,
believing,  we would win
sure victory to our hall

The night grew dark and long
and lost we were to fog,
now wander in despair
this vile and bitter bog

For home and hearth is lost
as wandering, we have found
this is the price of war.
We know not where we're bound.

Each dream is left behind
as innocence is lost,
in bitterness we walk;
Remembering - this the cost.

This, the cost of war
of banner's shining bright,
no hope of victory
just endless trudge through night.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Kethry - looks as if we're going to go do it again, not good, but needed? I don't know, but the cost will be great...

(big hugggsssssssss) Oh Kethry, this is so very sad, sweet friend, for every soldier I believe the war is truly lost as no one deserves to have to see the agony and tears and blood and in war, no one ever wins anyway, for it is not in war where we make justice but in justice itself! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kethry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Kethry,

This tore at my heart.
So exquisitly written, I only wish the world could hear your words as well.

Bless you, my dear.

I actually was about to say that same thing - what a timely write and so well done Kethry.  Perhaps if there are more of these poems our voice will be heard.

Indeed history will repeat itself again and again..no matter what state departments or special envoys come up with...works are knitted together nicely
