Well, today is real cold again
colder than before
Makes me wonder
just how much more

Three different times
I went back to bed
Even pulled up the covers
way over my head

A city close by
got down to ten
Another near here
they said was fourteen

Not nearly as cold as some
of you have, I know
But, to me right now
it surely feels so

Now I've got two pair
of socks on my feet
To thaw out my fingers
may be a bigger feat

When in the summer
the temp to 100 rose
I wanted it cooler then
but didn't think of my poor toes!!

And that's the weather report for today, folks.

Hehehe. 10. That's cute. :-P Nice write. We just found out the heat in our apartment hasn't been working the whole time we've lived here. Try taking a shower and coming out into a room that's 50 degrees!

Hey there garysgirl,

I liked this very much. Gave me a chuckle.
Now I have to go out and experience that first hand.

does wearing gloves inside tell you anything about how cold it gets here? I have these kind that are mittens when closed and   gloves minus the finger tips when open...a little hard to type with the thumbs but the fingers are warmed by them.

The problem is not just the cold but that it hasn't reached above freezing in almost 2 weeks.

I crawled back into bed yesterday and part of today and every evening I go to bed earlier than the last.
Eventually the temp will rise *s

Eromyna,
OOHH, I don't know what I'd do if we didn't have heat.
Some of the elderly in the town close by are having a hard
time keeping warm. People are donating electric hearters to them,
but some on the news said they couldn't afford to use them
because of the power bill. They're trying to stay warm by
layering on clothes.

Maureen, the only way I could stay warm this morning, was to go back to bed.
When I went back to sleep, I slept later than I have in a LONG time....
must have needed the sleep, though.

If it keeps being this cold here, I'm going to have to find some of
those gloves. I'll bet it is cold in your big house with all
the rooms you told us about. Impossible to warm all of it, I
imagine. Try to stay warm, though, friend....

(smiles) Yay!!! Oh Ethel, I'm so sorry I missed this too, sweet friend, I would have made a huge announcement if I saw this sooner! (kiss on cheek) Yay, CONGRATULATIONS ON 5,000! Here in Colorado it has been a whole different story, we've been having the warmest winter in Colorado history and it is sad too because of the terrible drought we already have! I love wearing sandals but we could use some of your rain, a lot of it! (big hugggsssssss) Stay warm, sweet friend, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

Congrats on 5000
that's a lot of degrees!
Excuse me, it's 28,
and that shaking? my knees!

I know it's cold
I really do!
But come up here,
get a clue!

This is where blue is blue
and white is white is white
I know you Floridians
think that the snowbirds are right!

But they come down to greet you
and make your town, a mess...
while up here?  We've a lot more room
while they're down there, now guess...

that we all live where we are fine
no matter, come what may...
Would I like to be in your calmer climes?
Sure!  If you can stand August in May!

I loved your perky little poem.  It made me smile and I like that.  Wish we could trade you some of our dry for some of your wet, we Oregonians are losing the webs between our toes and the moss in our hair.  Crazy.  Tell me though, how long does it take to post 5,000?  At the rate I'm going, I'll be over 100.  Barb

Ethel, ~Congrats!~

We came in just about the same time
and you have more than twice as I.
Thank you for always taking the time
posting a reply on mine.Appreciate it.

Still having our milder than usual
winter up here in No. Ca., hope
that doesn't mean we'll have a
hotter summer, for we always hit
the three digit heat waves which
last weeks to months....ugh....

Stay warm...think of Gary...that
should do it... Hugs, Pat

Nancy Lee,
Thank you, sweet Lady. I always appreciate your kind replies.

Noah,
Looks like if it doesn't get better, the Southerners are gonna
have to move to Colorado. That's okay about not noticing. I didn't either.

.
Marti,
Thank you, friend. Hey, I thought that Florida's temperatures
were supposed to be kind of like California's.
Doesn't look like it now, huh?
.
.

Chris,
I know. I hate these really cold days and nights. Just not
used to it, I guess. Thanks for the congrats.

Karilea,
Thanks for the poem. I liked it. Yep, it gets HOT here in May.
Then I'll be griping about the hot weather and wishing it was cooler....
Maybe we should all go to Colorado or California?
Thanks for the congratulations....
.
.
Michele,
I don't know what's happening. Some places in the South
have broken records with these cold temps.
Thanks for replying.....
.
.
Paladin,
Yeah, we are "homeys", aren't we?
I saw a lot of birds here last week, too. I wonder where they all
went to? You're right...probably in June, I'll wish it was cooler weather.

Dennis,
Thank you for the congratulations.
I'm glad, too, that you liked the poem.
Oh, and try to stay warm in that cold weather....
.
.
Barbara,
I'm glad that you liked the poem and that it made you smile. This weather is crazy, isn't it?
About the 5000 posts...it hasn't took all that long, really...especially
with me loving this place so much and reading and replying
to so much poetry. After all these, I still get behind.
.
.
Pat,
You're welcome. I love to read your poetry. I guess I got so many
posts because I try to keep up with the poems all my friends
I've met here write. It's hard, though, when I'm away from the
computer for a couple of days in a row.
About the weather...like I told Marti, I always thought that
we had similar temps. as California, but I know different now.
You're right, thoughts of Gary do help me to stay warm......

Well Hello, Marti

Yeah, I've been layering all kinds of clothes.....doesn't
look very good, but who cares right now? (just so long as
Gary doesn't, and he doesn't care what I wear.....HeeHee)
Try to stay warm, Lady. I listen to the weather report for
Massachusetts because of my daughter and it's a lot colder
than here. She told me that she would really rather be back in
Florida, but one of her daughters wants to stay up there, I think.
Man, I wish they could move closer by me. It sure would make
me feel better. Well, here I go getting long-winded.
Thanks for your sweet words about my posts.

Hi Titia,
Yeah, it's been unbelieveable!!
Record-breaking temperatures. It's supposed to warm up tomorrow,
but my Dad said that it's supposed to get into th twenties
again next week.
It's a big difference since you were in Florida in September.
I guess we shouldn't complain, but we aren't used to all this cold....Brrrr.
