Hello everyone I was invited by Dixie. I don't come close to her soul searing gifts but I hope you find something you can like in my work.

Words of Donas

I remember the room
The walls covered in tapestries
Each depicting a story of sorts
The floor was warm stone
Odd it never in all my visits seemed cold
The wash basin was silver
It stood on a carved stand of deep cherry
Soft cloths to the left
To the right a simple silver mirror and brush
They always seemed so out of place
So feminine in an otherwise masculine room
The door too was of heavy cherry
I only opened it once to explore
The bed in which I'd always awake
Was large enough for eight men
It was at it's shortest point five feet high
Always covered in black and red silk
Even the heavy quilts were of such scheme
My modest night gown was white cotton
The sound of horses would draw me
I'd look out the window upon a fertile valley
Edging a beautiful forest
They'd be there racing in the dawn
She was pure white called Lady's Fire
He blacker than pitch was known as Lord's Fire
I could watch them for hours
Awed by there strength and pride
Fire had been an apt name for they seemed flame
Burning of grace and independence
I remember asking once when he came to me
Something so rare after I'd awaken
Why he didn't breed them with others
He'd laughed and it boomed through the room
Said that they would have no other
Both of them have only one love
One mate they desire
Each other
Then I asked who owned them
His smile became serious as he spoke

"No animal, human or otherwise can be owned..
they are offered shelter..granted affection and all they have to
do..is be true to themselves."

He'd left then and I'd returned to my world
Awoken by my mother for school
Confused more than ever by his words
Yet as morning turned into day
I felt an odd sensation in my chest
Realizing as I faced my tormentor
The sensation was the fluttering of wings
Reawakend by words only dreamed

Hello

I'm Ethel...garysgirl. I'm sorry i didn't get here to give you the proper welcome before now. I haven't been on here myself as much lately as I was. I love this place, though, and all this great big "family of friends" here. I hope that you like it as much as we all do.

I enjoyed reading your first post very much. It's very good. I hope you'll be back soon. I would love to read more of your poetry.

Oh, and someone our sweet friend Dixie recommends has got to be a sweet person, too.
See you later...(hope your computer problems get fixed soon).....
