where didI get familiar ideas to write?
be it somewhat succinct and quite contrite
be it scraping the surface of daily routines
or muddling along channels in between.

the words came form books I read
live specimens were cut and bled
patterned on issues as blatant as day
I'd select my material... bright or grey.

The good and the bad are here to stay
great nations grow, public opinions sway
novels incorporate slices of lives expressed
old writers die, younger novices try new tests.

Look around your local neighborhood
subject matter lies about under hood,
ready to be picked as topics to reveal
got familiar ideas from the unconcealed.

I had a lot to write about when I was in college...like the one I just posted called As If I Knew (I was hoping you'd read that and give your opinion of what I"m saying there)

it seems though that the intellectual mind leaves when it is not stimulated...some I've written while I was in college cover many topics and are quite educated, but now my style has changed, because of the lack of information and energy.

my inspiration for writing comes from other people's poetry, music, and sadness now...I need to get back in school!

I like this. It is inspirational to me. Good to know how others feel about writing.

Thanks, Pat

Hey Passing,

some people are self taught too and that provides plenty of energy...take a friend of mind who's a self taught musician and amplifier repair person..doing it without the formal electronics training around
but you're right about a lot of people the lack of positive stimuli can make people get apathetic about life..they let themselves go
and then wonder where the inspiriation is.

Hello Pat,

so now you can have a different 'eye' when you read poetry here, there is no patent on them..many of them recirculate in different forms...and even the elements of love are varied and complex!

Hello Nan,

As you know I am not looking for 'popular' writes but expressing in a unique a way as I can..and I do see an evolvement in my own style. It is important though that even though many equate passion poetry with love poems and matters of heart...there is so much else out there and its good that other poets see that so they do not restrict themselves in their thinking. Freedom of thinking is a necessary ingredient as you know.

I have always admired your ability to reach out and pluck up the sometimes obscure, sometimes blatant, topics.  You always leave one with food to chew on, and a fine wine with which to ease it down.

You are so right...there is so MUCH to be written about, and I need to expand my horizons.

But if I begin to contemplate the dust in my navel, take my pen away, ok?

You get them where you will.  That's true.

I also want to thank you for your poem "The Mirror".  I enjoyed it very much.

(sigh) That is exactly how I believe the best poets grow, those who look around them, learn, be educated, and appreciate what is beautiful and make an opinion for what can be improved among the corruption elsewhere and make justice! (big hugggssssss) This is marvelous, sweet friend, you speak like a true poetic soul, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martin, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Mirror man,

Pleasure to get your point of view...as Diamond once said I have the knack of arosing people's attention...writing on the unexpected..or as Karilea puts it giving food for thought and allowing people to digest what they will...I did really want to wish you the best because it looked that you were doing some soul searching in your last poem. If I am wrong please excuse me...I do enjoy your topic matter and format very much

Yes Noah,

its time to suggest in a healthy way where things are going wrong in the 'system' since we're supposed to have a freedom of speech and help set things on the right path. Take car my special friend
