The Lord is a sword
In the hand of the righteous.
With the staff of His strength
Will he strike this
   Rock
With words pour forth
   Living Water
And daughters will come
To live with sons
In unity and the fulness of
   The One

Religion is a pinion in the hands
Of the wicked
A smoldering anvil
In the midst of mist and rubble
Faith has to be rendered from
The fat of forty minions
Just trying to get nutrients
From these powerless religions

T.V. evangelism is a twinkie for the hungry soul
Forget chicken soup
It's the war of Pop Tarts and Toaster Strudels
Apple filling to replace the kind
Mom used to bake

Read Religion for Dummies
With yellow binding cover sheet
Cower under the blankets at night
With a flashlight
Searching for Zen among the flowers
Wither with a lack of sleep
As rest continues to elude
These half-hearted protrusions

"Seek and ye shall find"
Does not mean
Do it on your own time
Unless, I guess, you're impressed
With your own finesse
In which case I say:
Feast upon your fertility
And eat from the fat of the fields
Until lack of enrichment forces
The ground to reek with fecundity
Doesn't sound fun to me
But that's for me

For me,
The Lord is a sword
In the hand of the righteous
With the staff of His strength
Will he strike this
   Rock
With words pour forth
   Living Water
And daughters will come
To live with sons
In unity and the fulness of
    The One.

Nobody wants to comment on my poem so I'm going to. It's great! Very insightful. Keep up the good work.

Good poem.. I really enjoyed.

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.

(big hugggsssssssss) Oh Luke, I think the sad truth is so many exaggerate the real meaning of religion and sell it out and forget what the whole gist of it is when they abridge it on fiscal terms! (sad sigh) This is powerful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Luke, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
