A Little Girl's Cry

I look down from where I am
And see a little girl’s sin
Her face is covered to muffle her crying
Her sorrow is deep and undenying

Why does she hide, knees to chin?
Where could one so young have been?
To cause such sorrow and pain?
To make her cower in shame?

The answers come in the door
And as her Daddy kneels on the floor
I hear the little girl say
“Please Daddy don’t hurt me today”

I want to save her
But how I can’t be sure
For as she takes hands from face
I see I have somehow taken her place

Painfull, but well written....very sad after reading this, but it was very good.

Of all I've lost; I miss my innocence  the most.

Sad content, but I like it.
It was confusing when you said "little girl's sin" in the first stanza. I thought she might have been at fault. You must be indicating her feelings of guilt more than the judgement of her actions.
I take it the character is you. Thus, taking the place of the little girl. Sorry it happened. It happens much too often. I'm glad you can express yourself in positive ways such as poetry. Hope you feel better. Hope you ARE better.

This poem is very moving. I'm curious about the speaker who looks down at the little girl and who is taking her place.

As I read it again, perhaps the speaker is looking down from Heaven at herself.  If so, I like this a great deal.
