Last Goodbye
By Paul Wilson

Today we buried the dreams
and plans we shared in our heart
Strangers we have now become
both ready for a new start

We have gone separate ways
each looking for better things
Not too long ago vows said
our love pledged with wedding rings

Will you know me tomorrow
if by chance we meet again
Will you recall the past shared
between two lovers back then

You called today just to talk
we met again, one more time
Words said…our feelings exposed
secrets revealed…love was blind

Papers signed…new life begins
take your papers…leave my heart
Time spent together as one
over…time for a new start

Will you remember me now
if we should meet on the street
Will you turn and walk away
as lonely heart skips a beat

Should your phone ring with only
silence on the other end
I must admit…it was me
not saying goodbye again

~~All~~

This is not an actual experience by me, only a fictional story

"To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you"

Paul,

Glad you commented about not you..I think you captured divorce quite well, and the sad realization that at least one is not okay....loved the last couple lines...and, I know that does happen, only my last long-term and long ago boyfriend would call and talk in Chinese (He, nor I are Chinese) and I'd keep politely repeating, I'm sorry, I can't understand a word you are saying.......only for the silent hang-up...as time progressed he did tell me that was he making the phone calls to hear my voice....odd, what break-ups do, and how hard it really is....for all concerned....but, life goes on and we learn.....or try to, anyways.... This brought back memories, both good and not so good, but that is why I love poetry so much, it touches our very souls...

Thanks, Pat

..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons..

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Paul, I'm so happy this is fictional to you, sweet friend, sadly it is real for me in recent terms and Joanna doesn't even want to be my friend anymore! (sad sigh) You fit well into others shoes so compassionately, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Paul, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Hello Paul, I am glad this is not written about yourself. Separation and divorce are so hard.

You have captured what it must be like extremely well.  Hugs, Marti

Marti~ You are so right. I need to find some happier topics to write about, but my muse seems to live in the shadows of sorrow and dispair.I really appreciate you taking time to read and reply...Paul
