Realistically
I expected nothing
funny.....
that’s exactly
what you gave
leaving me
only one choice
and how strange is it
that the comfort I thought
was you
turned out to be
my own shadow.....

Short but sharp. Like the twist at the end. Thanks.

It's amazing I won. I was running against peace, prosperity, & incumbency.

This so often seems to be the case, doesn't it?  Nice writing, by the way.   Welcome to Passions.

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn
